A sweet custard tartlet with a flaky crust and caramelized top.

Why try it?

These tarts represent the sweet and rich history of Portuguese influence in Macau. They are a quintessential dessert experience that signifies the blend of cultures.

How it tastes

The egg tart is sweet and creamy with a delicate, flaky pastry crust. The caramelized top lends a slightly burnt, nutty note that balances the rich custard.

Origin & History — first documented: 1985

Introduced in the 1980s by a British pharmacist in Macau, this dessert has its roots in Portuguese monasteries as early as the 18th century and quickly gained popularity in Macau.
