Why try it?

Malakoffs are synonymous with Swiss comfort food, exemplifying a rustic and indulgent cheese delight that locals adore as a warming snack or starter, representing Geneva's love for cheese.

How it tastes

Each Malakoff is crispy and golden on the outside, with a gooey, molten cheese center. The fondue-like aroma and rich, savory flavor are accentuated by a subtle hint of white wine.

Origin & History — first documented: 1855

The Malakoff is believed to have been brought back to Switzerland by mercenaries returning from the siege of Malakoff during the Crimean War in the 1850s. Initially a meal for soldiers, it was adapted into a popular civilian snack.
