Why try it?

Pav Bhaji is a staple street food in Mumbai that showcases the city's love for spice and butter. It represents the cultural melting pot of Mumbai, combining influences from various Indian cuisines into a single, beloved dish.

How it tastes

The bhaji, a mix of mashed vegetables cooked with spices, is rich and flavorful, with a buttery aroma. The pav, or bread roll, is soft and lightly toasted, absorbing the flavors of the bhaji.

Origin & History — first documented: 1850

Pav Bhaji originated in the early 1850s as a quick lunch option for the textile mill workers in Mumbai. Vendors created this dish to provide a meal that was filling, nutritious, and affordable. Over time, it transitioned from street-side vendors to becoming a beloved dish in Indian households and restaurants.
